Dr. Rachel Knox completed her undergraduate education at Duke University, earned medical and business degrees from Tufts School of Medicine, and completed residency training in family and integrative medicine before pursuing additional training and study in functional medicine, cannabis therapeutics, and health equity.
Specializing in cannabis and psychedelic health equity, cannabinoid medicine, and endocannabinology, Dr. Knox is a thought leader, advocate, public health and policy consultant, historian, and public speaker. Her work centers on how cannabis, psychedelics, and other natural resources can address the Minority Health Disparity Gap.
Dr. Knox co-founded Doctors Knox, Inc. with her family to advance education in cannabinoid medicine and clinical care of the endocannabinoidome. She also co-founded Pivital Holdings to develop transformative education and health solutions that improve care access, promote health equity, and create botanical and biotherapeutic innovations for underserved communities. Doctors Knox serves as Scientific Advisors to Canalytics.ai.
As creator and Chair of the Board of Governors of the Comprehensive Health Equity Movement (CHEM)®, Dr. Knox leads a non-equity joint venture between seven member organizations working to achieve health equity, particularly for communities impacted by cannabis prohibition. She developed the CHEM Pillars of Health Equity® as a framework to measure equity, access to wellbeing, and the impact of social and economic initiatives. Dr. Knox also serves as President of CHEM Allyance, the movement's 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit, and is Chair Emeritus of ACHEM, the Association for Cannabis Health Equity and Medicine.
Her policy experience includes serving as chair of the Oregon Cannabis Commission, member of Portland's Cannabis Policy Oversight Team, and Vice Chair of Oregon's Psilocybin Advisory Board. Nationally, she contributes to the Council for Federal Cannabis Regulation (CFCR) and is a founding member of the Cannabis Regulators of Color Coalition (CRCC).
